Puppy Manners Course $225.

Our puppy manners course is a personalized three- session coaching experience designed to help you and your puppy get off to the very best start together.

Created for puppies 12 weeks of age and older, this private program meets once a week for 3 consecutive weeks, with each session lasting approximately one hour.

We'll guide you through the everyday challenges of puppyhood while teaching the skills that help create a well mannered, confident companion.

Along the way, your puppy will be learning important foundation behaviors such as attention and focus, polite leash manners, impulse control, waiting at doors, beginner obedience commands and appropriate greetings.

You will also receive guidance on common puppy challenges including house breaking, crate training, play biting, and jumping, helping you build good habits before unwanted behaviors become lifelong routines.

Every puppy learns at their own pace, and private coaching allows us to tailor each session to your puppy's individual needs while giving you the support and encouragement you need along the way.

Basic Obedience Training

Our basic obedience classes are designed for all dogs of any size, breed or mix, 5 months of age and older.

We will be teaching you to train your dog by using today's more progressive, positive and motivational training techniques. Through a logical class progression (1 hour of class weekly) plus daily home practice sessions.

Over a series of training sessions you will learn to train your dog to do the following skills: Walk on a loose leash (without pulling), Heel, Sit, Wait, Down, Stay, and Come When Called.

In all of our group and private training sessions clients can feel confident in the quality and consistency in our balanced approach to training.

You will find our methods to be not only effective, but positive and fun for both you and your dog!

In addition we will help you replace your dogs unwanted behaviors with many new and useful skills, resulting in a more attentive, relaxed and happy companion!

Also included in this course is an introduction to one of the American Kennel Club's newest and most innovative program's: Companion Rally Obedience.

Basic Obedience Skills - Establish yourself as leader of your pack while teaching your dog great new skills you will use together everyday!

Companion Rally - A fun and exciting training game, with a focus on teamwork for the dog and handler while doing an on leash obedience course, where an enthusiastic attitude and a wagging tail are more important than precision.

All group classes are held outdoors and weather permitting: any classes canceled by Oakwood due to bad weather will be rescheduled.

All class participants are encouraged to dress in layers for warmth spring and fall, jeans and tennis shoes are recommended.

Do not feed your dog their afternoon or evening meal prior to attending class, a dog with an appetite is much more interested in working for treats. Do give your dog a brief walk and fresh water before the start of each class.

The following items should be brought to class weekly: Water, for you and your dog, bowl, training collar, 6 foot leather leash, small soft treats.

Premium Training Collars and Leather Leads are available for purchase at Oakwood, we will be happy to correctly fit the appropriate style and size collar for your dog. Please call us to set up a fitting appointment.

All fittings must be done prior to the start of group class dates .

Basic Obedience Private Training Sessions

Private Obedience ( 4 Week Mini Course)

Class Fee: $325. ( For the complete 4 week course) (Sessions run May- October 2026)

For those of you that would prefer private instruction and feel that the group sessions may not be right for you or your dog to start your obedience journey, the 4 Week Private Mini Course can be tailored specifically to you and your dogs needs and will be a great fit for you.

You will receive step by step coaching to learn all the basic skills needed to have a mannerly and well balanced companion.

You will master the same skill set as the group basic obedience sessions only with a one on one personal experience with you, your dog, and the trainer.

Private sessions have the ability to move you and your dog along faster and also include problem solving unique to your own situation.

The session is one hour per week for 4 consecutive weeks at the same specified time each week.

2026 Group Basic Obedience (6 Week Course)

Class Fee: $350. ( For the complete 6 week course )

Class Dates: Monday Evenings Sept 14th- Oct 19th

Class Time: 6:00- 7:00 P.M.

Try your paw at the newest AKC sports.

CGC (show off your dogs good manners that they are learning in class) and Rally a (training game of basic skills), both are so much fun for you and your dog!

Training in a group atmosphere prepares you and your dog for most real life situation's where you need your dog to focus on you and respond to you the handler in a calm and respectful manner consistently.

All group classes are held outdoors and weather permitting, any classes cancelled by Oakwood Kennel due to bad weather will be rescheduled. (check our website here the day of class for cancellations or call the office for updates.)

Bring the following to class each week: Water for you and your dog, bowl, training collar (no buckle collars or harnesses please), 6 foot leather leash, SMALL Soft Treats, treat pouch.

Training collars and leather leashes are available for purchase at Oakwood, we will be happy to correctly fit the appropriate style and size collar suitable for your dog 30 minutes prior to or after class.
